Chapter-14 (Use of Let)

अंग्रेजी भाषा में let का प्रयोग अनेक स्थानों पर किया जाता है. जैसे- सुझाव या सलाह देने के लिए, कोई सेवा प्रस्तुत करने के लिए, कोई जानकारी देने के लिए या अनुमति देने के लिए. अनुमति देने वाले structures में let का प्रयोग ‘आदेशात्मक’ हो जाता है. UBS ENGLISH SPEAKING COURSE के निम्नलिखित उदाहरणों से let का व्यापक महत्व समझ में आ जाएगा.   

 (i) 

आओ बाज़ार चलें.	Let’s go to market.
आओ पुलिस को सूचित करें.	Let’s inform the police.
आओ आनंद मनाएं.	Let’s enjoy.
आओ कॉफ़ी पियें.	Let’s have coffee.
आओ अब खेलें.	Let’s play now.

 (ii)

अब हमें सो जाना चाहिए.	Let’s sleep now.
हमें ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए.	Let’s pray to God.
हमें यह फिल्म देखनी चाहिए.	Let’s watch this movie.
हमें यह कार्य ख़त्म कर देना चाहिए.	Let’s finish this work.
हमें मंदिर में दान देना चाहिए.	Let’s donate in temple.

(iii)

आपको चाय दूँ.	Let me give you tea.
आपके लिए कुर्सी लाऊं.	Let me bring a chair for you.
आपको कागज़ और पेन दूँ.	Let me give you paper and a pen.
आपके लिए कुछ लाऊं.	Let me bring something for you.
आपको पढने दूँ.	Let me read you.

 (iv)

मैं बताता हूँ कि चोर कौन है.	Let me tell who the thief is.
मैं स्पष्ट करता हूँ कि क्या हुआ.	Let me explain what happened.
मैं बताता हूँ कि उन्हें क्या चाहिए.	Let me say what they want.
मैं स्पष्ट करता हूँ कि मामला क्या है.	Let me clarify what the matter is.
मैं वर्णन करता हूँ कि वह धनी कैसे बना.	Let me describe how he became rich.

 (v) 

मुझे अखबार पढने दो.	Let me read the newspaper.
बच्चों को खेलने दो.	Let the children play.
प्रकाश को कपड़े धोने दो.	Let Prakash wash the clothes.
उसे जाने दो.	Let her go.
उसे भाषण तैयार करने दो.	Let him prepare the speech.
पाकिस्तान के साथ एक युद्ध होने दो.	Let there be a war with Pakistan.
जो हो रहा है उसे होने दो.	Let it happen what’s happening.

Memorable Points:

1. Let’s let us  का संक्षिप्त रूप है जिसका उच्चारण लेट्स है.

2. उपर्युक्त उदाहरणों में 5 प्रकार के वाक्य हैं :  

(i) तथा (ii) में सुझाव (suggestion) देने वाले वाक्य हैं.

(iii) में विनम्र निवेदन है.

(iv) में अपनी बात कही गयी है.

(v) में आदेशसूचक वाक्य है.
